Objective
To describe the procedure for the Operation & Calibration of the Electronic Balance (ESSAE) to determine the weight of the sample.
Make : ESSAE-DIGI
Model No. : DI-20
Capacity: 6 kg
Scope
The procedure given below is applicable to the Electronic Balance (ESSAE) in the Quality Control Department.
Responsibilities
The person who is operating the instrument.

Procedure
1. Operation
- Maintain the room temperature at 20 - 25℃.
- Ensure that the weighing chamber and pan are clean; if not, clean with a soft brush or cotton.
- Before the start of the operation, switch ON the balance for 30 minutes.
- Switch ON the balance by pressing the “ON” key briefly when 0.000 kg is displayed, the balance is ready for operation.
- Calibrate the balance with the calibrated weights.
- Place the sample on the weighing pan, preferably in the middle. Wait until the stability detector “o” disappear.
- To Tare the weight of the container press “TARE” key. Add a weighing sample to the container, the net weight is displayed. If the container is removed, the tare weight will be shown as a negative value. The tare weight remains store until the “TARE” is pressed again or the balance is switched off.
- To switch OFF press the main switch.
- Record the weight up to third place of decimal in kg. and after decimal third digit in gm.
- Remove the sample from the pan, offload weights and clean the weighing pan.
- The switch should be OFF to disconnect the electric supply.
2. Calibration
- Calibrate the balance with the help of calibrated standard weights.
- The weights used for calibration is to be calibrated by the standard NABL certified lab at a frequency of 6 months.
- The weights used for calibration of balance is 100 gm, 500 gm, 1.0 kg , 2kg and 6.0 kg.
- The ESSAE DIGI balance is to be used for weighing for media in media room.
- The balance should be calibrated every day before the start of work and whenever necessary.
3. Maintenance
If the instrument does not produce the required calibration results or its response is poor, then it should be labeled NOT IN USE and should be repaired or serviced.
